This has been the weekend for shoots with miracle kids. Let me introduce you to two more. Melissa and Jeremy became proud parent's to Hestan five years ago. Shortly after birth, he was diagnosed with several severe heart anomalies. He has now had 4 open heart surgeries. One at 2 days old..2 months old..5 months old and the last one being successfully done on April 6, 2007 at the age of 3 years old. Looking at him, you would never know. He is an active, full of life child, who is all boy. Melissa and Jeremy wanted to have another child and after talking with specialists, they were given odds of less than 2% to have another child with heart problems. Shortly after becoming pregnant, she found out she was having a girl and she too had heart anomalies. Brynlee was born in July of 2007. Brynlee has now had 2 open heart surgeries..one at 9 days old and the 2nd at 4 months old in November of 2007. Melissa and Jeremy have a strong faith that they were given these children for a reason. For Melissa, being a mom is her priority in life. She cherishes every smile, hug, kiss, laugh and temper tantrum with these kids. She and Jeremy are an inspiration...which leads to this shoot. They have been asked to speak again this year at Cook's Children's Hospital Heart Ball. They are going to do a slide show and some advertisement for the event and they needed some new photos of the kids. Hestan and Brynlee have a strong dislike for the camera, so I had to catch them on the run. I wanted to put so many up...but here are a few. By the way, thanks Pam (Grammy) for the rockin' hair and being the dancing monkey.

WOW!!!
I am Susan Vanderpool, the founder of Mended Little Hearts of Tulsa. I never really got a chance to sit down with Melissa and her family, but she is truly one of my heroes! My own 3 year old Heart Baby being my first and biggest hero.
Melissa joined MLHT early on when we just got started, and even though her physical location has moved her out of our "regent" she has chosen to remain with our group.
These pictures show Melissa's determination and passion for life and her family and I am honored to say that in our own way we "know" each other.
Melissa, you are a strong woman and I am SO impressed with you in every way!
Ms. Long, you are an amazing photographer, able to capture a person's inner self, a true talent.
Great job!
